STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through the following activities:

  • cooperative – teams work to accomplish specific goals
  • individualized – an individual member works alone to accomplish specific goals
  • competitive – individual or team performance measured by an established set of criteria.

2009-2010 Competition Materials:


Participants will receive national recognition items including achievement medals, certificates, and a press release for local media. Recognition levels are:

  • Gold Medal (Highest level)
  • Silver Medal
  • Bronze Medal

    National Association of Parliamentarians - Promotes democratic values and meeting leadership to a full-service organization serving the needs of professional parliamentarians, students learning leadership skills, adults who are new to parliamentary procedure or improving their meeting skills, and the general public.

    National Kitchen and Bath Association - Enhancing member success and excellence, promote professionalism and ethical business practices, and provide leadership and direction for the kitchen and bath industry worldwide.

    Sullivan University - Sullivan provides learning experiences in an environment enhanced by student services and activities outside the classroom that enable students to take advantage of their interests and abilities to develop teamwork and leadership capabilities.

    The Culinary Institute of America - A private, not-for-profit college dedicated to providing the world's best professional culinary education.  Excellence, leadership, professionalism, ethics, and respect for diversity are the core values that guide our efforts. 

    The Art Institutes - Leading educator of students in the creative and applied arts, including design, media arts, fashion, and culinary. The Design program includes tracks in Advertising, Digital, Graphic, and Interior Design.

    U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - EPA leads the nation's environmental science, research, education, and assessment efforts.  The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment.  Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier, environment for the American people.
